Planque

Privacy policy

Effective 11 October 2026 · Applies to the Planque iPhone app and this website

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, no email, no phone number. You pick a nickname and a sticker.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We never sell or share your data for advertising.
  • The app does not read your device's location. The only places it knows are the ones you tap on the map.
  • Your games (play areas, hidden pins, questions, guesses, scores) are stored on our server so friends can play them.
  • Want it all deleted? Email us and we will remove it.

Who we are

Planque is developed by Kouidev (“we”, “us”). For any question about this policy or your data, write to s.kouider@kouidev.com.

What we store, and why

On your phone

The first time you play, the app creates a random player ID and a random secret and keeps them in the iPhone Keychain, together with a copy of your nickname and sticker. They work like an anonymous key: they let our server know that requests come from the same player, without any sign-in. Your settings (sound, theme, language) also stay on your phone.

On our server

Information Why
Your random player ID and a one-way hash of your secret (never the secret itself) To recognise your device without an account
Nickname, sticker character, sticker colour, language (English or French) and XP To show you to the friends you play with, and to send notifications in your language
Your push notification token, only if you allow notifications To tell you when a friend asks a question, finds you or guesses wrong
Games you hide: the play area, your hidden pin, an optional place name and clue, game code and settings So friends can join with your code and the server can answer their questions
Games you seek: the questions you ask (with the map point each one is about), the answers, your guesses, distances and score To run the game, keep score and show results
Dates and times these were created To order games and keep things tidy

Your hidden pin is never sent to a seeker's phone while they are still playing. They only see it once their round is over. The friends in a game can see each other's nickname, sticker and progress in that game.

Location

Planque does not use your device's GPS or location services. The play area, your pin and your guesses are points you choose by searching or tapping on the map. Remember they can still be meaningful: if you hide at home, the friends who play your game will see that spot when their round ends.

Who else handles data

We use a few services to run the game. None of them get your data for advertising.

Result cards are made on your phone. They leave it only when you choose to share one, with the app you pick.

What we do not do

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your player profile and games for as long as you play, so your games and scores stay available to you and your friends. To have everything deleted, email s.kouider@kouidev.com with your nickname and, if you can, the code of a game you played, so we can find your player. We delete your profile and every game, question and guess linked to it. Deleting the app removes the player ID and secret from your phone, but not what is stored on our server, so please email us too.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to send them. The company that hosts the site (Netlify) may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, for a short time to run and protect the service. Invite pages read the game code from the link in your browser only. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Children

Planque is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has used it, contact us and we will delete their data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, and object to its use. Our legal basis is providing the game you asked for. Contact us at the address above. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If we add sign-in, subscriptions or anything that collects new data, we will update this policy before it goes live.
