Terms of use
The short version
- Planque is free to play. Be kind to the friends you play with.
- Pick a nickname that is not offensive, and only hide in places that are safe and legal to visit.
- Never trespass or put yourself or others at risk to play. Planque is played on a map, not on the street.
- The app is provided as it is, without guarantees.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you and Kouidev (“we”, “us”), the developer of the Planque app and this website. By installing or using Planque you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Questions: s.kouider@kouidev.com.
2. The app
Planque is a turn-based hide-and-seek game on a real map. A hider drops a secret pin in a play area, and seekers ask questions that the game answers automatically before they guess. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the Apple Media Services terms.
Planque is currently in beta. Features, scoring and rules may change, and games may occasionally be reset while we improve the app. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
3. Playing fair and safe
You agree that you will:
- choose a nickname and clues that are not offensive, hateful, or someone else's real identity;
- not use Planque to harass, stalk or locate a person, or to reveal someone's home or private address without their permission;
- stay safe and follow local laws if you ever visit a place from a game, and never enter private or dangerous places;
- not cheat, attack or overload our servers, or try to read hidden pins or other players' data;
- not copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.
We may remove nicknames, games or players that break these rules.
4. Maps and answers
Maps and place data come from Mapbox and OpenStreetMap contributors. Answers to questions such as “same district” or “nearest metro” are worked out automatically from that data and may sometimes be imprecise. That is part of the fun, but please do not rely on Planque for navigation.
5. Privacy
How the app handles information is described in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
6. No warranty
Planque is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, that answers or scores will be correct, or that it will be free of errors. Nothing in these terms affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for loss of game data, or for what you choose to do in the real world while playing. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
8. Ending
You can stop using Planque at any time by deleting the app, and ask us to delete your data as described in the privacy policy. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 4, 6, 7 and 10 continue to apply after that.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when new features arrive. We will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Planque after that means you accept the new terms.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Kouidev is established. If you use Planque as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Before going to court, please contact us; most problems can be solved by email.
